37 Weeks

Whoo-hoo! The baby is now considered full-term and will most likely be healthy and strong when she is born. I was 3cmm dilated at my appointment last Friday, and the baby has dropped as far as she can go into my pelvis. My plan was to keep working until April 2, but I quickly changed my mind and made yesterday my last "official" day in the office. I figure, even if she takes her time coming, I'll have some time to relax and prepare for labor and get ready to have a newborn again.

I feel like she's going to come soon, but also don't want to jinx myself into being pregnant for 3+ more weeks! Jake and I had our "last supper" date over the weekend and talked about how it would be very fitting for our family to have an April Fool's baby. At least we won't have 4 birthdays right in a row in March (Lily is the 19th, Jake is the 22nd & my dad is the 24th)!

36 Weeks (9 Months!)

I am huge and uncomfortable! Kind of feel like my labor will begin anyday now and that there is no way I'll make it until April 19. Last day of work is April 2!

35 Weeks

The baby is now over 5 pounds and 18 inches long! It feels like she's doing yoga in my uterus half the time - completely stretches out and pokes me - ouch. Very hard to find comfortable positions and sleep at night. Really feel like the clock is ticking now...hard to believe I'll have two kids soon!

8 Months!

32 Weeks down, 8(ish) to go...the days started flying by after I wasn't feeling nauseous all the time! Getting more uncomfortable everyday - she loves to kick under my ribs and bounce on my bladder. Not sleeping very well at night. Contractions keep getting stronger and more frequent - need to start cutting back on my "to-do" list and decrease my stress level. This pregnancy has been much harder than my first - looking forward to not being pregnant anymore and having a new baby again!
Lily tells me everyday, "I love you mama. And I love my baby sister too!"

31 Weeks

Yay! The kid's room (weird to say "kid's" instead of "Lily's room") is totally organized and ready - baby clothes, blankets, car seat and toys all set to go. Wonderful to be having another girl for many reasons, but especially love the fact that we can use everything again - literally do not need to buy anything besides diapers.

30 Weeks: The Business of Being Born

Everyone must see this movie. If I wasn't already planning on having a home birth, I would change my mind after seeing this documentary! Birth is amazing...and I get to do it all over again. :)

Cravings: sour patch kids

Highlights: pre-natal massage over a lunch break

Annoyances: bruised and sore from little baby feet being shoved underneath my ribs

7 Months, 1 Week

Random strangers are now asking me, "When are you due? You are pregnant, right?"
And I find it hilarious to say, "Nope - just my beer belly."

27 Weeks: Hiccups

The baby is about 2 pounds now and gets the hiccups everyday - it's a very funny feeling - like a little drum beating inside of me. She is very active whenever I sit or lie down - you can see my stomach moving already.

Cravings: pasta and ice cream....yummy.

26 Weeks: Emotional

I am so much more emotional, crabby and tired with this pregnancy than I remember being with Lily. Jake agrees about the crabby part. :)

21 Weeks

Okay, people. Who's stomach is still that flat at 21 weeks??? (ha ha!)

19 Weeks: Happy Thanksgiving!

Things I am thankful for: The best 2 1/2 year old ever, a wonderful husband, friends and family close to my heart and a healthy pregnancy.

18 Weeks: Ah, Hormones.

Crabby, tired and in a funk this week. Starting to worry about getting my work done before taking a maternity leave; having a new helpless baby to take care of again; my life completely changing again! Not sleeping at night very well.

4 Months: Huge & Happy!

Okay, so I know I'm not really that huge...it just feels that way. But I have to admit it's really fun having a pregnant belly!

I feel very pregnant now...the weight of carrying a baby is strange. I'm enjoying the little flutters when the baby does somersaults and kicks!

15 Weeks: Apple

Yes, we're naming the baby "apple." NOT! But that's how big the baby is now! I'll bet a dollar that this kid will love apples too...since I've been craving them again (Lily loves them too).

Finally feeling somewhat "normal" again - can stay awake past 9pm and am feeling hungry rather than sick. Good news.

Lily likes to pat my stomach and say,"Nice baby."

14 Weeks: Baby Wants Candy

Oh wait, maybe just I want candy. (Of course I had to get pregnant again through Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. ha ha!).

The baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his/her thumb.

From head to bottom, he/she measures 3 1/2 inches (the size of a lemon) and weighs 1 1/2 ounces.

13 Weeks: Amazing!

According to my "this week in your pregnancy" email, the baby now has fingerprints!

We listened to the little flutter of a heartbeat last week...there is really something growing inside of me. Wow.

12 & 1/2 Weeks: She knows!

Lily looked at us during dinner last night and said, "Mama, there's a baby in your tummy." Jake and I exchanged surprised looks!

This morning she said, "The baby crawled in your tummy because she was hungry and needed milk."

I had 2 more eggs with 2 yolks in them...very strange.

12 Weeks: Pop! Goes The Belly

3 months! At 7 or 8 weeks, I remember thinking 3 months was an eternity away...which it is, when you spend all day (or just want to) laying on the couch feeling miserable.

Finally feeling "normal" (not pukey and not exhausted all the time)- hope this continues!
We haven't told Lily about her big sister status yet, although last week she informed me that "when I was a baby, I was in your tummy!"
Weight gained: 8 pounds
Cravings: Apples (I craved these with Lily too!) and grape nuts
I keep teasing Jake that we're having twins...which I thought was funny, until my egg had two yolks in it the other morning!

11 Weeks: Coffee Smells (& Tastes!) Good Again

Finally feeling a little better...either the new medication is working or the baby is starting to like me. Have a bit more energy, but this doesn't mean I use it to do the dishes or pick up toys- ha ha! Jake seemed offended when I mentioned hiring a housekeeper to tide us over.

10 Weeks: Baby Kumquat

The baby is the size of a kumquat, and my uterus is the size of a grapefruit. This could be why my pants no longer fit...

I've decided to make a shirt that says,"Growing a person is hard work."

9 Weeks: Whiney Whiney Whine

Still sick. Trying to suck it up and deal with it. Not doing a very good job.

Monday, September 8, 2008

8 Weeks: There is no end in sight.

Sick. Bleh. That pretty much sums it up. The baby is the size of a kidney bean or blueberry. And I have to wonder...how can something so small cause so much misery?

Cravings: Chicken noodle soup.

Weight: Gained 3 pounds.

New Bedtime: 8:30pm

7 Weeks: Survived the Airplane

Fun trip to Chicago this week...although half of it was spent laying on the couch (Thanks to Mom, Christina and Grandma...the "Lily entertainers"). But I didn't throw up on the airplane ~ yay! Was able to eat some of my birthday cake. (Thanks, Aunt Jen!) :)

My "morning sickness" is "morning, day, and all night sickness." Smells are revolting, my mouth constantly tastes disgusting, and I am exhausted. If our bodies are built for pregnancy, why is it so much torture? Crazy hormones!

6 Weeks: The Reason Saltines Were Invented

Classic morning sickness - bleh. Could be worse...haven't actually thrown up yet. With Lily I was fine in the morning and awful after 2 or 3pm until I went to bed.

Weird cravings: those disgustingly yummy fat and sugar filled fruit pies I used to eat in high school. I only had one: that was enough to last the next ten years.

Annoyances: Being pregnant automatically means you are the designated driver.

5 Weeks: Definitely Pregnant

People have been telling me you feel everything sooner with the second...very true. No food is appealing, which means I am sick most of the day. Smells are overwhelming. Pants are a little snug, although I haven't gained any weight yet. Have to pee every 10 minutes. So tired...although I did somehow manage to stave off the 9:30 sleepiness this week by finishing the Stephenie Meyer saga.

The Day We've Been Waiting For

Today we found out we're preggo. Jake jumped up and down and exclaimed, "Yes!" I am utterly amazed at how fertile we are. Weird to think that I've technically been pregnant for a whole month already.

The Right Time?

We love Lily so much, we thought it was about time to double our fun. Because just the fun doubles with two, not the work or stress or lack of sleep or anything, right? Ah, one can dream.
